How Does Loop Work?

LOOP empowers Second Life artists, venues, and their fans to create, share, connect, and grow. LOOP does this by providing Second Lifer's with a system for creating, registering for, negotiating, and booking musical events. Venues can advertise openings in their schedule, artists can register to perform, and fans can share with friends what performances they will attend.

Getting Started

The first step is to create an account with LOOP. LOOP requires a Google account and your avatar uuid.
  1. Navigate to LOOP.
  2. Login with your Google login. Login to LOOP from within Second LifeIf you intend to share this account with an agent or manager you should create a new Google account or take other precautions to protect your account.
  3. Enter your avatar uuid in the Sync Your Account widget and click Get Started.
  4. Read and agree to the Terms of Service Agreement.
  5. Select your account type:
    • Fan: Select this account type if you are yourself an artist or venue owner, or acting on behalf of a venue or artist. This account type is free and will be able to create a profile and follow artists and venues. From their profile they will be able to post and share images, bios, and their favorite artists and venues on both their LOOP profile and on other social media platforms. They will also be able to use LOOP's event system to search and share future performances on other social media platforms.
    • Artist: Select this account type if you are an artist, or acting on behalf of an artist. This account type is free, but the performer is required to provide a 5% discount to venues that book events through LOOP's event system. This account has greater access to all of the features available to the Fan account type. Artist profiles can: host links to other social media profiles; display their total number of fans; allow artists to send alerts to their fans through HOWL; register and negotiate events with venues; and make available to venues their default contract details.
    • Venue: Select this account type if you are a venue owner, or acting on behalf of a venue. This account type is free to create, but must pay a subscription fee to have access to LOOP's event system. The free version has access to the same features as a fan account. Paid account features vary based on subscription type, but all gain access to LOOP's event system allowing them to create events - venues are the only account type that can create an event. The different subscription teirs grant venues greater access to HOWL as well as premium features based upon their LOOP fans and LOOP peformances.
  6. Click Sync Now!. Wait for your information to be sync'd with Core Hound. This should only take a few seconds.
  7. Once your avatar is sync'd with your Google account you should see a message telling you that you are now pre-registered for LOOP. Follow the link to continue filling out your profile.
  8. Fill out the form provided. When you click on a field or checkbox a tool tip will appear to the right (mobile: just below) the field. Click Submit to finish. Your profile should be ready.

Understanding Your Profile

Your LOOP profile is home to a wealth of information; some of this information is provided by you, some of it is compiled by LOOP.
  1. To get to your profile you must login to LOOP, access the user menu in the top right, and click
    'View Profile'
    .
  2. To edit your profile click on the More menu and click Edit. This will reload your page in Edit Mode.
  3. Once in Edit Mode you can edit several features of your profile:
    • There are several images that you can change. However, since LOOP does not host files your images must be hosted else where. For more information about hosting images see Image Hosting below. The images that can be changed are: profile image, banner image, and the five slideshow images.
    • Your profile name can be changed here. It is strongly recommended that artists and venues use a recognizable name for their profile names.
    • [Artist & Venue only] Your profile title can be changed here. It is recommended that artists and venues choose a title that reflects their performance genre(s) or function: "Singer", "Musician", "Dance Club", "Speak Easy".
    • The navigation bar at the bottom of your profile's header/banner is not alterable, but many of the sections that are navigated to are editable.
    • [Artist & Venue only]The Quick Traits region is only visible on Artsit and Venue profiles. The Quick Traits region includes: Number of Fans (followers); Rating; Rating Range; Genre(s); and artist pricing information.

Image Hosting

Images are not hosted on LOOP servers. This is partially to improve LOOP's performance and security and partially to protect your ownership of copyrighted images. There are a number of image hosting sites available, these two are quickest and easiest to use.
  1. IMGBB.com is quick and easy to use. You can create an account quickly using your Google account and be uploading images in seconds. With IMGBB.com, use the Direct URL for your image. This is found under the image's Embed Codes tab.
  2. IMGUR.com is slightly more involved when creating an account, but still quick and easy with an existing Google account. Like with IMGBB.com, use the Direct Link for your image.
